Mel's Pig
Roast Remembers
Dennis Dachel

Mel's Pig Roast lost a dear friend
on December 22, 2009, when Dennis Dachel passed away at the
age of 68.
Dennis never missed a pig roast
until the last 2 years while he courageously battled cancer.
At this year's event, Dennis donated
a signed Wisconsin Badger helmet from his all-time favorite
player, Jim Leonhard. The winning bid was the Mel's Pig
Roast Committee, who returned it to its rightful owner, our
good friend Dennis.
The best part of this story is
that Jim Leonhard (now plays for the NY Jets) was notified
on how the helmet was returned and personally called Dennis
at
his home a month before he passed away. He wanted to let him
know that he had heard of his story, and he was thinking of
him.
Dennis will be missed...but never
forgotten!
